our story
Smigs Stables was built by Kevin and Kaylie Thomas in 2020 stemming from a deep passion for horses and an even deeper respect for the people who love them. From day one, every barn, pasture, and training space was designed with one goal in mind: putting the horses first.
In 2021 Kaylie discovered the sport of Reining and immediately fell in love with its athleticism, precision, and the partnership it demands between horse and rider. That experience shaped her vision for Smigs Stables and influenced every detail of how the ranch was built—prioritizing thoughtful horse care, correct training, and facilities designed to support high-level performance.
While Kaylie continues to actively compete in reining events across the country, Smigs Stables is proud to also serve as the home of Bayshore Equestrian. The ranch is leased to and operated day-to-day by Taylor Cavezza of Bayshore Equestrian, whose approach to training and horse welfare closely aligns with Kaylie and Kevin's values. This partnership allows Smigs Stables to thrive as a well-cared-for, professionally managed facility while Kaylie travels for reining competitions, and ensures that every horse on the property receives consistent, attentive care regardless of discipline.
